I had Carlin sell one of the Ala Moana Condo-hotel units in no time; despite the other two real estate agents said that it wouldn’t be easy to show the unit since the room might not be always vacant at the time for show and required to get the hotel permission to show. He was prompt to respond, kept me with the update throughout the process, and treated the business professionally. I referred him to my daughter when she and her husband were looking for an agent.

Several years ago, through Mr. Carlin Yamashita’s help, my wife and I bought just the right house for us in Hawaii.
He was very flexible, patient (with us), and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the real estate market. Carlin really showed he wanted us to find the home we would be satisfied with for the long term. He respected frequent changes of our minds as we developed our search for the home. He never pushed us to buy, but he rather helped provide all the resources to assist us in choosing (just) the right one. Whenever we called or asked any questions, he responded sincerely and in a timely fashion. Our questions were sometimes so specific, and yet Carlin carried through by doing the footwork, i.e: research of the geology of the land, prior flood history, etc, so that we soon received an answer to our satisfaction. In short, Carlin was on our side during the entire process of searching for, placing our offer, and finally purchasing our house. The entire process of purchasing our home turned out to be a very pleasant, trusting and satisfying experience. We were about to give up on purchasing a new home, after we had lost out on 2 other houses. We saw a house for sale that appeared to be out of our reach. Thought we would go look at it to try & get a better idea of what we wanted. We went to look at the house and that’s how we met out soon to be realtor, Carlin! We contacted Carlin and he was immediately responsive. We had several meetings with him before we actually went house hunting. He made several presentations on the process of buying a house, making sure we understood, with power points, and handouts. He gave us questionnaires to fill out on what we were looking for in a home. From there, we looked at local listings and discussed the pros and cons of different properties. Within the week Carlin had houses lined up for us to look at. He emailed us with new listings and set up appointments within days with homeowners. We looked at 2-5 houses a week for months. Carlin was very popular with other realtors and we always got positive feedback on how good he was at his job. After months of looking we were getting discouraged. All the houses were too expensive or fixer uppers. We weren’t finding anything that was “just right”. We were at a point where we were ready to “settle”. I’ll never forget when Carlin talked us out of “settling”, and told us to hang in there and we would find the right house. Sure enough, within a few weeks we found “our home”. It was perfect, everything we has been looking for. Carlin quickly negotiated a deal for us, before the first open house, and we were locked in! There were much higher offers at the open house, but it was ours!!! Carlin walked us through the buying process and connected us with competent, friendly people who helped us with a low mortgage rate and home insurance. My experience with Carlin was with my fourth property purchase. Carlin’s elevated standards in providing expert knowledge, attention to detail, adaptability to my needs, and personal care were greater than all of my previous real estate agents. What made my situation unique, was the fact that I performed my preliminary search for my home while physically living overseas. At first I wasn’t certain what type of property I was going to purchase. Carlin provide me with enough choices in differing genres to be able to feel confident enough to travel to Hawaii to make the final purchase. The difference between Carlin and other agents is that you aren’t treated like cattle. Carlin understands that purchasing a home is not like purchasing a car or buying stocks. He adjusts to your pace and truly wants you to make the right personal choice a home purchase requires. While I was searching for property, he was very patient with me as it took nearly a year before I was ready to travel to Hawaii. He not only provide many links a pictures, but also provided me with charts that depicted the market trends and history of the differing properties in Hawaii. When opportunity and fortune enable me to travel to Hawaii, he understood that I needed to optimization my time while in the islands. I would ask him “when can I look at this property”, and his answer was always “I am here for you, you tell me when you would like to see it”. Even though he knew that I was on a time constraint, he never made me feel that I had to make a purchase. At the same time he made every effort to provide me with as much data and opportunities to maximize my experience. I closed while being overseas, and Carlin was there for me to the very end. I’ve recommended Carlin to all of my colleges and friends. Some of them have told me that they have friends in real estate, and are a bit disturbed that they are not receiving any of the products and TLC that I have received from Carlin.
